Mission:Brain PAHS & KUSMS hosted Healing Through Colors and Chords at SIRC.

On 20th August 2025, the mission:brain Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS) Chapter in collaboration with mission:brain Kathmandu University of Medical Sciences (KUSMS) Chapter successfully organized a recreational program titled “Healing Through Colors and Chords” at Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Centre (SIRC), Sangha. The event aimed to harness the therapeutic potential of art and music to uplift and empower individuals undergoing spinal injury rehabilitation.

SIRC was established in 2002, with the aim of rehabilitating the spinal injured people of Nepal, as a first project by Spinal Injury Sangha Nepal. In the present, it is a 51 bedded nonprofit and a charitable rehabilitation centre registered with the Ministry of Health.

One delightful day, an Instagram aficionado from our team discovered a reel on art therapy for the elderly. Captivated by the video, we all fell in love with the concept. Now, having hosted a similar session, the experience feels truly rewarding. We spent time with inspiring individuals, listening to their stories of battles fought and cherished memories created along the way.

The program welcomed over 30 participants, including patients with spinal injuries and their caretakers. We conducted a two-hour art session where all participants painted their thoughts and feelings. This was followed by a music and recreation session, featuring performances from volunteers alongside heartwarming performances by patients and the rehabilitation center’s coordinator. The performances were enlivened by traditional Nepali tunes and original compositions.

In the end, all we could see was happiness on their faces. One participant said, “It was special because it was a break from our routine.” Another remarked, “Time passed so easily; what a wonderful program it was.” Their heartfelt involvement highlighted the profound impact of creative arts in rehabilitation, showing how colors and chords can mend hearts and spark smiles.

This program reflects mission:brain PAHS’s ongoing commitment to serve the community and push for better health of people across Nepal by fostering holistic wellness through innovative and inclusive initiatives. Healing Through Chords and Colors reminded everyone involved that art and music can transcend words, bringing light to even the most challenging journeys.
