Do you want to complete your hospital rotations in the United States?

The Juan Beckmann Vidal Scholarship Program, sponsored by the Beckmann Foundation, FUNED, and Mission:Brain Foundation, is now accepting applications. This program is designed to advance neuroscience and neurosurgery in Mexico by supporting education, training, and research opportunities abroad.

About the Program

This scholarship aims to:

  • Advance neurosurgical education and training for Mexican physicians
  • Promote global collaboration and knowledge exchange
  • Reduce disparities in neurosurgical care by expanding access and exposure to different healthcare systems
  • Encourage long-term partnerships between Mexico and international institutions

What Does It Include?

  • 2 scholarships will be awarded
  • Hospital rotations in the United States
  • Duration: Minimum 6 months, up to 12 months

Funding

  • $2,500 – $3,000 USD per month
  • Approx. $27,000 USD total for a 9-month rotation
  • Final amount determined based on cost of living in the host location
  • Covers:
    • Travel
    • Housing
    • Food (for the physician and/or immediate family)

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be Mexican
  • Hold valid identification and professional licenses
  • Submit a letter of intent
  • Have acceptance to a U.S. neurosurgical rotation
  • Provide a current CV
  • Submit:
    • One letter of support (supervisor, director, or equivalent)
    • Two letters of recommendation (including one from their academic institution)
  • Have required travel documentation (passport, visa)
  • Provide vaccination records if required
  • Sign a contract with FUNED outlining support terms
